Our Story: Helping Enthusiasts Transition from Street to Track

Track Minded HPDE™ was founded on a simple principle: help enthusiasts transition from street to track performance driving. The 10-Year Journey of Track Minded HPDE™ began on August 9, 2014, when our friend Bruce introduced me to the world of High-Performance Driver Education. What started as a mix of adrenaline and confusion has evolved into a father-son mission with over 125 combined track days. Since 2014, we’ve been bridging the gap between “street legal” and “track ready.” We started exactly where you are—navigating track days with a daily driver and wondering if our car (and our skill) was up to the task. Now, our unique blend of racing experience and mental health expertise sets us apart. We’re not just drivers—we’re advisors and coaches dedicated to your growth.

While our content serves all levels, our heart is with the beginner—helping you move from the street to your first “Lead-Follow” session and on to confident, consistent open-track lapping. We want to inspire motorsport enthusiasts to hit the track and equip them with the tools to enhance their driving skills and track day experiences. Whether you’re thinking about your first HPDE event or an intermediate driver, we aim to provide solid, “noise-free” best practices cultivated from our 10+ years of experience. We help drivers learn faster, drive better, and approach HPDE with confidence. Our goal is to empower HPDE excellence, help you drive smart and think fast, and ignite your passion for track days.

Our Approach: Data-Driven, Driver-Focused

Whether you’re thinking about your first HPDE event or an intermediate driver, we aim to provide solid, “noise-free” best practices cultivated from our 10+ years of experience. We provide actionable advice, free from social media clutter. We don’t just “list” parts. The tips and products we recommend are what we use based on years of real-world personal experience, coaching, research, and learning. We have used our recommendations at circuits all over California and beyond. We believe they offer a solid jumping off point for anyone starting out in HPDE knowing each use case will depend on driver experience, platform, desired outcomes, and personal taste. Not everyone will agree on every recommendation, but we believe you won’t go wrong by starting off with these suggestions. Our approach to track driving is rooted in:

• Data: Using telemetry and physics to move past subjective setup opinions or “butt-dyno” feel.
• Human Factors: Understanding the psychology of performance under pressure and competition.
• Technical Rigor: Evaluating safety equipment, car setups, and our other recomendations through a scientific lens.

The Expertise

TrackMindedHPDE was founded by RaceDoc, a Physician-Scientist. He brings a unique, “forensic” perspective to the world of High-Performance Driving Events (HPDE) rooted in psychology, neuroscience, educational principles, and over a decade of HPDE experience as a driver and instructor.

Many people and sources have contributed to our knowledge and expertise. For motorsport we tip our hats to the supportive, driver development focused, grassroots HPDE communities, especially the folks at the many shops that have supported us. Many of our best practices come from the advice of our co-participants and these expert shops. With tremendous gratitude, we also thank our friend BH for the logo design and Bruce, who introduced us to the world of HPDE. We would not have this father-son hobby, on and off the track, without him.
